About Atlanta:

 

Atlanta is home to Martin Luther King, Jr., Coca-Cola, CNN, the Hartsfield – Jackson Atlanta International Airport (the world's busiest airport), the only Six Flags location in

southeast US, the College Football Hall of Fame, and was the host of the 1996 Summer Olympics. We'll also visit Stone Mountain, the world's largest single granite rock, with the Confederate Memorial Carving depicting three Confederate leaders of the Civil War, President Jefferson Davis and Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson on the side of it.

  • Meals while sightseeing (Friday - lunch, dinner; Saturday - Lunch and Dinner)

  • Entrance tickets into optional attractions

Arrival:

 

Those who arrive from out-of-town must be at IFM's headquarters at 610 Pickens St. in Columbia, SC by 8:00 AM on the first day of the tour. Those who wish to meet us in Atlanta must make suitable arrangements with IFM at least one week (7 days) before the first day of the tour. Schedule:

 

Friday, March 13

  • 2:00 PM - Leave Columbia 

  • 6:00 PM - Arrive to the Host Church and meet your Host Family at 6:30 PM.

Saturday, March 14

  • 9:00 AM - Host families bring students to church to meet bus for sightseeing.

  • 10:00 AM - Stone Mountain Park, one of the 1996 Olympic sites. There is a sky-lift to the top of the massive granite rock with a giant carving of the Confederate (Southern) leaders in the Civil War. Visit Jimmy Carter Library, MLK Memorial, and downtown Atlanta.

  • 1:00 PM - Drive to downtown Atlanta (purchase your lunch).

  • 2:30 PM - Free Time in Downtown Atlanta. Options include:

    • Peachtree Plaza (72nd floor observation deck ) 

    • Olympic Park and CNN

    • Georgia Aquarium

    • World of Coca-Cola - a fun museum about the world’s favorite drink, and a chance to taste many flavors.

    • Be certain to purchase your supper before we leave at 5:45 p.m.

  • 5:45 PM - Drive to meet host families at Community Bible Church. Spend the evening with them.

Sunday, March 15

  • 9:00 AM - Attend the morning Church Service at the Local Church.

  • 11:30 PM - Lunch at host church.

  • 12:45 PM - Depart for home campuses. The group heading to Columbia, SC will stop at the DeKalb International Farmers' Market.
