About Us

Our Purpose

IFM is a private Christian organization which seeks to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ to international students through sincere friendship and service.

We provide free weekly dinners, informative classes, fun programs, and affordable opportunities to tour nearby attractions during school breaks.  Whether it is a trip to the store, moving furniture from one apartment to another, or help with conversational English, IFM seeks to offer practical help as needed.

We also assist students who want to know more about the Bible and Christianity to find a Bible study or an international class within a local church.

If you are an international student, IFM is here for YOU!

Our Volunteers

We would not be able to accomplish our mission without our volunteers. From mailing our annual newsletter, to teaching English classes, to making our building ready to host events, we are grateful to our volunteers for serving alongside us. See how you can get involved here

Our President

Dr. Raj Aluri is the founder and President of the International Friendship Ministries and the Columbia International Festival. He is also the founder and president of the Agape English Language Institute for Internationals, USA.

Our History

International Friendship Ministries (IFM) began in Columbia, SC in 1981, in fulfillment of the vision of an international student from India, Raj Aluri. Having experienced the unique needs of a foreign born student studying in the USA, Raj knew firsthand the importance of linking local residents with international students.

Our Building

IFM's office is located at 610 Pickens Steet, on USC's Campus. Our building is open throughout the week for international students and scholars, to study, meet, and play ping pong. Our regular hours are Mondy-Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
