About Atlanta:

Atlanta is the home of Martin Luther King, Jr., Coca-Cola, and CNN, and was the host of the 1996 Summer Olympics. We'll also visit Stone Mountain, the world's largest single granite rock, with a Civil War memorial sculpture on the side of it.

Arrival:

Those arrive from out-of-town must be at IFM's headquarters in Columbia, SC by 8:00 AM on the first day of the tour.  Those who wish to meet us in Atlanta must make sutiable arrangements with IFM at least one week (7 days) before the first day of the tour.  Contact IFM at info@ifmusa.org or by calling 803-799-3452.

Schedule:

Friday, March 9

Leave at 8:30 AM.  Visit Jimmy Carter Library, MLK Memorial, and downtown Atlanta.  In the evening, drive to host church and meet your host family.

Saturday, March 10

8:45 a.m. Host families bring students to church to meet bus for sightseeing.

10:00 a.m. Stone Mountain Park, one of the 1996 Olympic sites. There is a sky-lift to the top of the massive granite rock with a giant carving of the Confederate (Southern) leaders in the Civil War.

1:00 p.m. Drive to downtown Atlanta

1:30 p.m. Free Time in Downtown Atlanta. Options include:

Peachtree Plaza (72nd floor observation deck )

Olympic Park and CNN

Georgia Aquarium

World of Coca-Cola - a fun museum about the world’s favorite drink, and a chance to taste many flavors.

Underground Atlanta, a specialty-shopping area with a unique atmosphere.

5:30 p.m. Drive to meet host faimly for dinner.  Spend evening with them.

Sunday, March 11

9:00 a.m. Attend church services

11:30 a.m. Lunch  at host church.

1:30 p.m. Depart for home campuses. The group heading to Columbia, SC will stop at the International Farmers' Market.
