Atlanta is the home of Martin Luther King, Jr., Coca-Cola, and CNN, and was the host of the 1996 Summer Olympics. We'll also visit Stone Mountain, the world's largest single granite rock, with a Civil War memorial sculpture on the side of it.

The highlight of our tour is the Passion Play, an annual musical drama at the Civic Center with a cast of over 200, depicting the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, which we celebrate especially at this season. The entrance fee ($18 value) for the play is included in our $45 registration fee.

If you come by bus or air, arrive in Atlanta by 6:00 p.m., on the first day of the tour. (It takes a very long time to go through the Atlanta airport, so leave yourself at least an hour and a half to get to our meeting point. We will meet you at a subway station where there is a shopping mall so you will not get bored in case you have a long wait. If you will be arriving very early, we can give you some ideas about what to do downtown that will not be included in the tour.)

Plan your departure after 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Friday, March 27

6:30-7:30 p.m. Arrival and orientation at host church; meet host families and go home with them.

Saturday, March 28

9:00 a.m. Host families bring students to church to meet bus for sightseeing.

10:00 a.m. Stone Mountain Park, one of the 1996 Olympic sites. There is a sky-lift to the top of the massive granite rock with a giant carving of the Confederate (Southern) leaders in the Civil War.

1:00 p.m. Lunch

2:00 p.m. Free Time in Downtown Atlanta. Options include:

Peachtree Plaza (72nd floor observation deck )

World of Coca-Cola - a fun museum about the world’s favorite drink, and a chance to taste many flavors.

Underground Atlanta, a specialty-shopping area with a unique atmosphere.

Get your own lunch and dinner sometime during this free time.

6:00 p.m. Meet bus at designated location; drive by Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial (if time permits)

7:00 p.m. Go to Civic Center for Atlanta Passion Play.

11:00 p.m. Host families meet students at church

Sunday, March 29

9:00 a.m. Attend church service and special session to discuss the Passion Play.

12:00 p.m. Lunch with hosts or a special dinner at host church.

1:30 p.m. Depart for home campuses. The group heading to Columbia, SC will stop at the International Farmers' Market.
