About Snow Skiing at Boone, NC:

Boone is a small mountain city, located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina. Named after the famous US pioneer and explorer, Daniel Boone, the city is the home of Appalachian State University. Because of its high elevation, Boone experiences cold temperatures during the winter, with sleet and snow occurring often. We will be snow skiing at Appalachian Ski Mountain in nearby Blowing Rock, NC. (www.appskimtn.com), a ski resort that includes 10 slopes, an outdoor ice arena for ice skating, a ski shop, and a restaurant.

Planning Your Budget:

Cost includes:
3 nights stay in an American home
Transportation to Boone, NC from Columbia, SC (and return)
Most meals (you have to buy 2-3 meals)

Arrival:

There are no plane, or train connections to BOONE. If you are coming by train, or air, plan to arrive in Columbia, South Carolina by NOON on the day of departure. IFM will provide transportation from Columbia at 1:00 p.m. IMPORTANT: If you arrive after noon, you will have no way to get to Boone! No exceptions can be made!

Plan your return departure from Columbia, SC after 6:30 p.m.

Schedule:

Friday, February 6

1:00 p.m. Depart from Columbia

6:00 p.m. Arrive in Boone and buy meal at restaurant

7:30 p.m. Host families arrive at host church and take students home

Saturday, February 7

Breakfast with host family

7:30 a.m. Meet at designated location for a whole day of snow skiing

9:00 a.m. Arrive at Appalachian ski resort

12:00 p.m. Purchase your lunch at resort restaurant ($8 - $10)

4:00 p.m. Skiing ends

5:00 p.m. Meet host families at host church

evening Have supper with host family and spend the evening with them

Sunday, February 8

Breakfast with host family

8:30 a.m. Meet at host church for International Sunday School Class at host church

9:45 a.m. observe Worship Service at host church with host family

11:00 a.m. Lunch at church with host families

12:30 p.m. Depart for home
